First of all- you are an absolute treasure!
You returned to _____ yesterday and spoke to the F-3 teachers and modelled a terrific lesson for
us. Impressive stuff!<\/p>\n

Your infectious enthusiasm, vast mathematical knowledge, mixed in with a wicked and sharp
sense of humour; make you one of -if not- \u00a0THE BEST!
I have heard you speak more than 5 times now and every time you inspire, motivate and entertain
me. Thank you<\/p>\n

I am on a high after a hugely successful \u2018One is a snail, Ten is a crab\u2019 lesson \u00a0you inspired me to
attempt with my Foundation class.
Morning maths is marvellous. You even encourage me to use alliteration wherever possible!<\/p>\n

I took your advice and \u2018shut up and let the kids speak\u2019 and I was so impressed with their attempts
to make 10 with counters, illustrations and a few other unexpected strategies.<\/p>\n

I do believe all those who get a \u2018sniff\u2019 of your excellent ideas are so lucky and ultimately are
provided with a treasure trove of ideas to take back into their classrooms.<\/p>\n

Thanks Rob for making Maths truly the loveliest and most fun thing to include every day!

Hope you\u2019re well and you\u2019ve been getting lots of work now that things are relatively back to
\u2018normal\u2019.<\/p>\n

I just wanted to share with you some wonderful news, I\u2019ve just finished a month of lecturing a unit
of Measurement &amp; Geom\/Stats &amp; Prob, with _____ \u2013 First year teaching students &amp; Bach. Early
Childhood. Can you believe it! Lol<\/p>\n

So, it all stems back to 2008\/9 ? When I went to WMR PL with this amazing man named Rob V, he
inspired this teacher who was all over literacy, and pretty crappy at maths. She then loved maths
and did her post grad in 2011, still implementing the good stuff that Rob V instilled in her along
the way. Fast forward to 2020 and here I am, teaching via Zoom, stuff that truly was beyond in
some ways (year 11\/12 maths in some instances, my god some of that stuff is hard!! Platonic
Solids, negative angles! What the!!) with the confidence that you helped me achieve.<\/p>\n

So thank you Rob, for making it easy to understand and helping me find my true passion in
teaching all those years ago, but still today!!<\/p>\n

Over the last few years the focus of our professional development has been on Learning Intentions and Success Criteria and I felt that our young teachers had missed out on PD around “teaching”. The work that you did today has really hit the mark and filled that gap.<\/p>\n

I know that you were apprehensive about working with our kids but your enthusiasm\u00a0when working with them has inspired us all – and as you saw, you even brought Cassie to tears!!!

We thought it was so nice to hear. If you’re ever looking for a trial school to practise any new activities on, please keep us in mind:-) I was also pleased to see the 5\/6 teachers using that grade 3\/4 balance beam activity with their classes today, such an adaptable activity.

During my maths release today, as I was passing through the classrooms delivering their maths tubs, both junior and senior teachers were engaging their students in one of your many ideas (i.e Tell me something about…, Guess my no., calculator vs mental comp). I played Mind Reader with mine and they loved it. \u00a0I reckon we could’ve gone for the whole lesson.

The strategies assist students understanding of number facts and breakdown the calculation process into understandable steps. Over the last few years the focus of our professional development has been on Learning Intentions and Success Criteria and I felt that our young teachers had missed out on PD around “teaching”. The work that you did today has really hit the mark and filled that gap.<\/p>\n

I know that you were apprehensive about working with our kids but your enthusiasm\u00a0when working with them has inspired us all – and as you saw, you even brought Cassie to tears!!!

Today I was in there teaching with Paula and at the end of the session I was saying how proud I was of them for great mathematical thinking today. One of the kids then said “you know who would be even more proud of us???. Mr V!!!” To that heaps of other kids replied “oh yeah!!!”<\/p>\n

We thought it was so nice to hear. If you’re ever looking for a trial school to practise any new activities on, please keep us in mind:-) I was also pleased to see the 5\/6 teachers using that grade 3\/4 balance beam activity with their classes today, such an adaptable activity.

During my maths release today, as I was passing through the classrooms delivering their maths tubs, both junior and senior teachers were engaging their students in one of your many ideas (i.e Tell me something about…, Guess my no., calculator vs mental comp). I played Mind Reader with mine and they loved it. \u00a0I reckon we could’ve gone for the whole lesson.

The strategies assist students understanding of number facts and breakdown the calculation process into understandable steps. By gaining confidence in a process that works for them students are ready to explore more advanced topics and realise that maths is practical and can be fun.
