While you might not have a whiteboard available, giving your students something visual to follow, rather than just listening to you talk, is important to keeping them engaged. Track down what items you have handy, grab yourself a metre ruler, and use a large piece of paper (or multiple smaller pieces stuck together) so you can show students an example and keep your key words in play – online programs like zoom even have a whiteboard feature you can use!
